When someone asks Jennifer Boeke how long it took to paint a painting, she often replies, "All my life." For it is the places she has lived, the people she has known and the experiences of a lifetime that come together to create a painting.

Jennifer's journey began early on in her childhood in Fort Collins, Colorado, where she was always observing and seeking to understand the ways of nature. She received her BFA from Colorado State University in 1975 hoping to work in New York City as a graphic designer. Instead, she chose marriage to Henry, and had two sons while living in the mountains of Washington state. It is there Jennifer began to paint from her heart...telling the stories of life, particularly a life of faith in Christ. Since 1983 her desire has been to illustrate the truths of the Bible in ways that are relevant to today's world painting people of all ages, races, and cultures in the various shapes of daily life.

This expanded into depicting the stories of those in need and the homeless, the lonely, the frightened. These powerful images, in a variety of formats, have been used extensively and internationally by numerous non-profit organizations to raise awareness and funding for their causes. She also works as a free-lance illustrator for Christian publications. "By the grace of God," says Henry, "there are now over 15 million reproductions of Jennifer's work".

Jennifer's work has been used by Focus on the Family, World Vision, Child Evangelism, Christian Standard Publishing, and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's Magazine just to name a few.

For two decades the Boekes lived in the mid-west. There Jennifer's artistry took on new, larger dimensions. She began painting theater sets and large-scale public murals. Many artists don't like others to watch them paint. But, while teaching at Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, Illinois, the door was opened for Jennifer to paint "live" for church services, retreats, and conferences...creating images to illustrate the sermon and/or the worship songs right in front of the congregation.

Coming full circle, Jennifer and Henry have now returned to live in Longmont, Colorado. She continues to paint for ministries, and also enjoys painting the simple pleasures of daily life and flowers, still-lifes, landscapes, and of course more people.

"The life the Lord gives us is a story too amazing not to paint&both the good and the hard sides of it!"
